And welcome to my personal blog: Wellness, Walnuts and Whatnot! This blog is for class on Creating Wellness that I am taking as part of my bachelors degree with Kaplan University. Before I ambush you with words in regards to something that is purely a part of an assignment and, moreover, personal experience with an assignment, I want to thank you for stopping by my blog. Much appreciated.
Let's Get Started:
The relaxation exercise is one that is focused on getting you to understand how to relax. It is the Autogenic training technique. The principle of this technique is that you can make any part of your body comfortable by simply suggesting that it is comfortable.
I found the exercise informative and actually found that relaxing as well. I've always found that relaxation can be a very basic thing. We all know how we're the most comfortable. I think that sometimes we forget the little things that can be done to feel more comfortable. Something as simple as just taking your shoes and watch off and unbuttoning your shirt can do wonders. I travel for a living and am commonly found in a shirt and tie just completely buttoned up. I make it a point to get a relaxed state when I get off of work by undoing the state that I am in. I use a lot of the techniques the speaker mentions as a "first things first" approach.
What I found to be most relaxing was that the speaker made it seem like it was a controlled relaxation session. I was able to let his voice somewhat "hold my hand" through my own relaxation. This kind of guided relaxation really works sometimes when you're brain can't seem to want to listen to your own voice. Very cool and it allows for some interesting options when you can't seem to bring yourself to a state of relaxation by yourself. I liked it.
Feel free to share your thoughts!
Be well,
James
